AQUAMICRON®

Karl-Fischer reagents, standards and reference materials

For moisture determination according to Karl Fischer, a1-envirosciences offers the appropriate range of reagents and standards for all Karl Fischer analysers.

Perform Karl Fischer measurements perfectly, precisely and efficiently

a1-envirosciences offers suitable reagents, standards and reference materials both for its own Karl Fischer analysers and for instruments from other manufacturers. Benefit from 70 years of experience with Karl Fischer reagents and the corresponding applications.

Coulometric Karl Fischer reagents (CA-310 / CA-31)

For moisture determination in organic solvents, inorganic chemicals, oil products, gases, ketones, silicone oils, low carboxylic acids, aldehydes, aromatics, alcohols, esters, ethers, benzene, toluene, etc.

There are two types of coulometric reagents: the anolyte (generating solution), which is added to the anode chamber of the electrolysis cell, and the catholyte (counter-electrolyte), which is added to the cathode chamber. There are also special anolytes for use with ketones, lower carboxylic acids and silicone oils. AQUAMICRON® can be used in coulometric moisture measurement systems from various companies and is known worldwide for its excellent performance. Common reagent combinations are: AQUAMICRON® AXI/CXU or AX/CXU; AQUAMICRON® AS/CXU; AQUAMICRON® AKX/CXU; AQUAMICRON® FLS.

Volumetric Karl Fischer reagents (KF-31 / CA-310)

For moisture determination in alcohols, amines, edible oils, sugars, ketones, toluene, xylene, chloroform, generator oils, insulating oils, etc.

For volumetric titration, a Karl Fischer titrant and methanol or a dehydrated solvent (for dissolving or dispersing the sample) are required. AQUAMICRON® offers a wide range of products suitable for measuring the moisture content of various samples.

Two reagent series are available: Series SS-Z (pyridine- and chloroform-free type); Series-SS (pyridine type). Titrants of 1mg, 3mg and 5mg or 10mg are available respectively. They can be combined with special solvents:

  • Solvent GEX for general use: organic solvents, inorganic chemicals, agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, detergents, food, etc.
  • Solvent OLX for oils: Naphtha, petrol, diesel oil, insulating oil, etc.
  • Solvent OLII for oils and fats: naphtha, petrol, diesel oil, heavy oil, electrical insulating oil, oils and fats (hardened oil, margarine, etc.), etc.
  • Solvent KTX for ketones: ketones, silicone oils, acetic acid and other lower carboxylic acids, aldehydes (except acetaldehydes), etc.
  • Solvent SU for sugars: sugars, proteins, gelatine, additives, feed, etc.
  • Solvents ML/MS for general use: organic solvents, inorganic chemicals, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, detergents, foodstuffs, etc.
  • Solvent CM for oils: Naphtha, petrol, diesel oil, heavy oil, electrical insulating oil, oils and fats (hardened oil, margarine, etc.), etc.
  • Solvent CP for ketones: ketones, silicone oils, acetic acid and other lower carboxylic acids, aldehydes (except acetaldehydes), anilines, etc.
  • Solvent PP for aldehydes: acetaldehydes, propionaldehydes, butyraldehydes, etc.
  • Solvent PE for ketones: ketones, silicone oils, acetic acid and other lower carboxylic acids, aldehydes (except acetaldehydes), anilines, etc.
  • Solvent FM for sugars: sugars, proteins, gelatine, additives, feedstuffs, etc.
  • Solvent ME for use with evaporators: gaseous samples, nitrogen, etc.

AQUAMICRON® Water Standard 0.1 for checking the coulometric measuring cell with a titre of 0.1 mgH2O/g.

AQUAMICRON® Water Standard 0.2 for checking the coulometric measuring cell with a titre of 0.2 mgH2O/g.

AQUAMICRON® Water Standard 1 for checking the coulometric measuring cell with a titre of 1 mgH2O/g.

AQUAMICRON® Check Solution P for endpoint adjustment. The solution can be used with both AX and AKX. It can also be used for daily QC of coulometric moisture measurement systems. The solution has a water content of 3.8-4.2 mgH2O/g.

AQUAMICRON® Water Standard 10 for the determination of the titre of titrants in volumetric determination. The titre of the solution is 10 mgH2O/g.

AQUAMICRON® Standard Water/Methanol. For the determination of the titer of Karl Fischer reagents (3-10 mgH2O/ml). The water content is 2 mgH2O/g.

AQUAMICRON® Solid Water Standard for QC on moisture meters with evaporator. The water content is 3.83%.

The reagents are compatible with most Karl Fischer systems, not only those offered by a1-envirosciences.
