Application

Applications

The MA-3000 is a fully automatic mercury analyzer for solid, liquid and gaseous samples.

The samples can be measured directly thanks to combustion digestions that can be adapted to the sample matrix.

The detector system used is a patented three-beam double-cell CVAAS detector (JP 5596995), which has the widest measuring range of all commercially available mercury combustion analyzers.

  • You can use it to remove mercury in
    sludge,
    sediment,
  • Floor,
  • Food,
  • Hair,
  • Blood,
  • Urine,
  • Ore,
  • Coal,
  • Plastic,
  • Catalyst,
  • Crude oil,
  • Waste water
  • and much more.

Carry-over free

Unlike all other combustion systems, the MA-3000 directs all drying and combustion gases past the detector. This technique keeps the detector and the gas paths clean and minimizes contamination or carryover (mercury memory effect) from contaminated combustion gases.

Innovation: Dual Cell Tri Beam

The MA-3000 uses 2 measuring cells, each of which has its own detector (patented three-beam double-cell CVAAS detector (JP 5596995)). This allows signals to be recorded in parallel. This unique, patented technology is only available in the MA-3000, as comparable products on the market have the measuring cells connected in series. Parallel signal recording is an enormous advantage, however, as the measurement is much easier to evaluate because you always have an evaluable peak.

Innovation: Sample drying cycle

Another innovation is the sample drying cycle of the MA-3000. All measuring devices that work with atomic spectroscopy are affected by the presence of moisture. It is therefore necessary to eliminate the water before the measurement. The MA-3000 has a special drying step which takes place before the actual thermal conversion of the sample.

Integrated autosampler

The MA-3000 has a large integrated autosampler with 100 positions, which can be loaded or reloaded during operation. Thanks to the large autosampler, more samples can be measured in the same time than with other systems, especially in overnight operation. The autosampler works with a stepper motor, so you do not need to connect an external oxygen source.

Minimal cross-contamination

Due to the technology used, the MA-3000 has minimal cross-contamination after high measured values. If extreme concentration differences do occur in a run, automatic intermediate cleaning can ensure that subsequent samples with low contents can also be measured reliably. The system can carry out automatic intermediate cleaning steps until a defined blank value level is reached again.

Areas of application

Mercury measurement with the MA-3000 is a direct determination. You have full flexibility with the sample matrix. This makes the device interesting for a wide range of companies in a wide range of industries:

  • Petrochemistry
  • Environment
  • Energy
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Food
  • Medicine
  • Heavy industry
  • Research

Sample preparation

The elimination of sample preparation eliminates the majority of possible sources of error and significantly shortens the overall measurement time.

Measuring method

Measuring method

The following steps are carried out during a measurement with the MA-3000:

  • Weighing the samples onto boats
  • Automatic sample feeding using an autosampler with subsequent pre-drying
  • Thermal decomposition and release of the mercury
  • Separation of matrix and mercury by intermediate focusing
  • Conditioning of sample path and detector cell
  • Thermal mobilization of the collected mercury and detection by AAS

If you want to analyze gas samples and digestion and water samples, the system can be adapted with extension kits.

Robust operation and maintenance

The MA-3000 enables robust routine operation thanks to the combination of a solid system design and the large number of technical control functions. The maintenance steps required are easy to carry out thanks to the clear design and good accessibility of the components.

Control system

The MA-3000 is controlled by specific control software that enables intuitive use:

  • Fast commissioning
  • Simple setup of the measurement sequences including calibration
  • Automatic “blank level”
  • simply visualized results
  • Standby functions
  • Comprehensive reporting
  • Numerous diagnostic and service tools

The software is available as an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) version to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical sector.

Parameters
