Compliance with the standard norm: the measuring method of the oxitest complies with the AOCS International Standard Procedure (Cd 12c-16)

Attractive price-performance ratio: the Oxitest leaves out all the non-essentials and focuses on the precise measurement of oxidation stability. This makes it easy to use, reliable and attractively priced!

Minimal use of resources: you only need a small amount of additional material (oxygen cylinder) for a measurement

A wide variety of applications: for example for

  • Quality control
  • Making transport and storage effects visible
  • Studies on storage duration
  • Product development
  • Formula and recipe optimization
  • Testing of ingredients
  • Process optimization

How does the Oxitest work?

The Oxitest is a powerful instrument for measuring the oxidation stability tests of fats and oils. The samples are exposed to high oxidative stress in order to analyze the resistance to fat oxidation. An overpressure of pure oxygen (6 bar, oxygen 5.0) at a high constant temperature (90 °C) is used to ensure reliable results.

What is the advantage of this method?

The advantage is that the Oxitest guarantees reliable results without time-consuming sample preparation.

What measured values does the Oxitest provide?

The results are expressed by the induction period (IP). The IP is the time period required to reach the starting point of oxidation. The longer the IP, the higher the stability against oxidation over time.

What material is the Oxitest made of?

The oxidation chambers, sample holders and covers are made of titanium and guarantee high resistance, excellent chemical compatibility and easy cleaning as well as cost savings as no disposable consumables are required.

How is the Oxitest controlled?

The OXITEST is fully controlled via the PC with the OXISoft™ software and is capable of controlling up to 4 oxitests simultaneously and independently of each other. OXISoft™ is quick and easy to use. You always have an overview of the program parameters, working conditions and results. (+ pictures software)

Can settings be made to the software?

The software can be adapted to different national languages and includes a pre-installed method library for a variety of different sample types as well as the ability to create your own applications. OXISoft™ offers data management, reporting and archiving with various test types including repeatability tests, freshness tests, formula comparisons, packaging comparisons, IP during ageing and estimated shelf life.

What additional material is required?

To be able to work with the Oxitest, you will also need an oxygen cylinder of at least 2 liters, a laboratory stand, ethanol for cleaning and, depending on the sample, a mixer for crushing. You should also ensure that your employees wear protective clothing such as safety goggles, gloves and lab coats.

Measuring method

How it works: Oxidative stress test

The Oxitest exposes the sample to an environment with high oxidative stress in order to analyze the resistance to fat oxidation in a short time. It uses pure oxygen at an overpressure of 6 bar and a constant high temperature of 90 °C.

Versatile sample application

The stability test can be carried out directly on the sample, regardless of whether it is solid, liquid or paste-like. This ensures reliable results without time-consuming sample preparation.

Induction period (IP)

The results of the oxidation test are expressed by the induction period (IP), which is the time period required to reach the starting point of oxidation. The longer the IP, the higher the stability against oxidation over time.

Titanium components

The oxidation chambers, sample holders and covers are all made of titanium, which guarantees high durability, excellent chemical compatibility and easy cleaning. In addition, no disposable consumables are required, resulting in cost savings.

OXISoft™ software

The Oxitest is fully controlled via the PC with the OXISoft™ software. It offers data management, reporting and archiving and contains a pre-installed method library for a variety of different sample types as well as the option to create your own applications.

FAQ

Corporations, medium-sized companies and start-ups benefit from the Oxitest.

The oxitest measures the oxidation stability of fat, i.e. how long something stays fresh or has a shelf life.

You can use the oxitest to determine the oxidation stability of nuts, butter, oils, creams, lubricating fats or milk, for example.

By measuring on your own premises, you are much more flexible and independent. You also save time for sample shipment, sample packaging and any costs incurred.

It is best to use a dedicated room that can be easily cleaned and ventilated.

Oxidation stability is of interest for the following areas of application:

  • Quality control of raw materials, ingredients and products
  • Visualize transport and storage effects on raw materials, ingredients or finished products
  • Studies on storage duration
  • Product development
  • Formula and recipe optimization
  • Testing of ingredients and alternative ingredients
  • Process optimization
  • Packaging study and comparisons with alternative packaging
