Functionality

Monitoring the air flow

The cabin monitors the air conditions in the laboratory to ensure that no airflow reaches the user, thus ensuring safety. All ST1 safety weighing cabins are tested according to “European Fume Hood” EN14175 and ASHRAE110 standards.

Aerodynamic design

Rounded edges at the top and sides, so-called flow profiles, prevent hazardous substances from escaping and ensure a laminar air flow. This ensures the precision of the scale and can be compared to a “virtual” glovebox. The air flow is set to 0.4 m/s in accordance with standard 15211 (testing and linking).

Security features

Double waste bags mean that hands do not have to be removed during the weighing process and therefore no hazardous substances are carried out.

An acoustic and visual alarm is triggered if the air flow is disrupted. The sensors for this alarm are located under the arm strip, at the height of the profiled opening of the cabin.

The rear wall (air baffle) of the cabin can be dismantled into two parts, allowing decontamination without having to remove and requalify the scale.

Materials

The base plate is made of ceramic, which can absorb spilled liquids. The body is made of high-quality acrylic glass. This generates no static electricity and at the same time offers very good visibility. The material is 8 mm thick and

Delivery, installation, IQ/OQ qualification and maintenance can be carried out directly for you by our experts.

The measurement of the filter retention rate of the H14 HEPA filter (at least 99.995%) is included in the maintenance as well as the low-contamination filter change after the recommended service life of the particle filter of up to 3 years. You are welcome to arrange a maintenance contract with us directly.

FAQ

Which HEPA filter is used?

A filter with the classification HEPA H14 is used; a solvent filter can be used as an option.

How do I see if everything is working and I am protected?

A visual and audible alarm permanently indicates the protection status.

Does the cabin require maintenance?

Yes, we recommend changing the filter every 3 years at the latest. According to legislation, you are obliged to have the filter integrity checked once a year. We will be happy to do this for you.

Where can I set up the cabin?

The modular design of the weighing cabinet allows it to be positioned anywhere in the laboratory. Corresponding substructures are also available as an option.

Who monitors compliance with safety regulations in the laboratory?

In Germany, the safety of laboratory employees is monitored by various authorities. The main authorities responsible for this are the trade supervisory offices and the occupational health and safety offices of the federal states.

Can I reduce my PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when working with the cabin?

This is theoretically possible, but should always be discussed with your security department.

Where is the filtered air directed?

There are various options for continuing the exhaust air from the cabin, for example recirculation mode or the optional option of transferring it to the house exhaust air.

Will the air flowing into the cabin interfere with my weighing process?

No, the unique design of a weighing cabin ensures a constant laminar air flow that allows precise weighing.

For which applications is the ST1 safety weighing cabin suitable?

I have never worked with a safety weighing cabin before. How can I learn how to use the cabin?

Once your cabin has been installed, our service team will be available to provide you with detailed product training. Most questions will arise during handling, so we will also be able to help you with any questions that arise at a later date – at your premises or flexibly via an online meeting.

Is any additional material required?

No, you can start immediately after installation. There are other optional accessories, such as anti-static bars, endless waste bags, etc., which make it easier to handle your substances.

Yes, the cabins can be optionally equipped with amber light.

How do I bring equipment into the cabin?

The front flap of the cabin allows a large opening so that you can easily place equipment in the cabin. Cleaning is also easy to carry out.

Can I carry out my weighing processes sitting down?

Yes, the weighing cabins are designed for seated activities.

Does the cabin restrict my working ergonomics?

Of course, containment solutions mean restrictions, but our concepts offer you the maximum possible working ergonomics with the highest possible level of personal protection.

The ST1 Nanoprotect offers the highest level of safety on the market: a containment record below 0.005 ppm (i.e. 20x lower than required by the containment standard), a minimum exposure level of 15 nanograms/m3 for handling the most hazardous substances (CMR Cat 1 and OEB 5), and guaranteed weighing accuracy and repeatability (up to 10-7 g under certain conditions).
